The Kunowsky’s
Greg and Christina Kunowsky have been a St. Martin’s family since 1997. Their oldest daughter Alexa is one of our 2008 Eighth Grade Graduates and has played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse for our school this year. Jack is in 5th grade and plays soccer and basketball and Grant is in 1st grade. Christina has been an active member of the Parents’ Association volunteering frequently, and attends nearly every sports game with her husband Greg.
Why St. Martin’s-in-the-Field Day School?
We enrolled our daughter in St. Martin's when she was 3 years old for the Nursery program. From the moment she
began the program we realized St. Martin's was a wonderful place for children. The teachers were so caring and
nurturing and we knew this was the perfect environment for our children. As the school began to grow we were
impressed with the curriculum and what it had to offer. All three of our children are enrolled at St. Martin's now and our daughter, who began her career here at 3 years old, is now getting ready to graduate from 8th grade. We feel
confident that she is fully prepared to embark on her high school career with a strong academic foundation and an even stronger sense of self.
How would you describe St. Martin’s-in-the-Field’s school community?
The St. Martin's community is very warm and welcoming. All the families share the same desire to have their children be in an environment that encourages success through positive experiences in academics and a spiritual understanding of who they are. The various events throughout the school year provide a great opportunity to be involved and get to know each other to create a strong feeling of community. There is a familiar home-like atmosphere that is very comforting to us as parents and to the children as well.
What do you like most about St. Martin’s and what have you found there?
We love that we have found a place that shares the same values that we have when it comes to educating children. The opportunities exist for success and the faculty and staff work hard to ensure that happens. We have also found that we like the idea of a K-8 school. We believe that all the children benefit from this model. The older middle school kids get to enjoy being the "senior" members of the community which encourages maturity and leadership in working with the younger students. The elementary students benefit by having older students to look up to and aspire to be like. All of this results in educating the whole child, where kids can be kids until they are ready to move on to high school.
